The Waitaki Honey Company is a 70 year old, high country, family enterprise operated by Kate White and Peter Irving. Peter's father started the business in 1940 with only 150 hives. Today, Kate and Peter run 3500 hives. Waitaki Honey has become the largest producer of certified organic honey in New Zealand.
Our honey comes from the clean, sparsely populated wilderness areas at the foot hills of the Southern Alps. New Zealand honey is known around the world as a high value, pure and natural product. The origin of Waitaki Honey, and the care we use in collecting it, make it one of the best.
There are predominately three floral sources in our honey -- clover, thistle and mild blue borage. These are all light and mild in colour and taste. 80% of our harvest is exported to Japan, Italy, Denmark, Germany and the UK. In these markets, the honey is packed into high value packs and other products. The honey that remains in NZ is included as a natural sweetener in Charlie's Fruit Drinks and in Good Health Organisation beverages.
Waitaki Honey has always produced the purest honey, from one of New Zealand’s most unspoiled landscapes. Our product sells in bulk, 200 litre food grade drums. Each drum contains 330kg. The honey is in a raw state having no processing apart from extraction from the honey frames. Please enjoy exploring this site and be sure to contact Kate if you are interested in importing or distributing Waitaki Honey.
